“Sab-Aruma” Holiday Park was originally established in 1965 as a holiday destination for the South Australian Brewing Company’s employees. It reflects a time when the culture of an organisation was that of sponsor and benefactor. Constructed with 35,000 hours of voluntary labour and financial contribution of the Brewery, a holiday destination for families and river-lovers of all ages was borne.
Today the legacy of the SA Brewing Company’s vision lives on. The resort is now called Aruma and is for sale as a community title holiday resort, which retains the character and charm instilled by its forefathers, but with some high-end upgrades to community facilities and services on offer. The project vision is that Aruma will be South Australia’s most unique river lifestyle.
Since the Aruma Joint Venture, including P&J Hurley Pty Ltd, former Crows start Mark Ricciuto and Simon Goodwin, and South Australian family owned and operated property developer, Burke Urban purchased the site in 2006, Aruma has lived on as a tourism facility much loved and frequented by river-enthusiasts from all over the state.
